Psalm 91 vs 1 – 16 KJV

· The Book of Psalms is a collection of poetry for the expression of praise, worship, and confession to God.

· What is Poetry?

· There is a total of 150 known Psalms that was written by numerous authors. King David wrote 73 of 150 Psalms. That leaves 77 Psalms written by other authors and 53 of those was written by unknown authors. Their names was not recorded.

· The Book of Psalms was written between the time of Moses 1440BC and the Babylonian captivity 586 B.C with Psalm 90 being the oldest.

o In 1440BC Moses was still in the wilderness (1446-1406BC).

o In 586B.C The destruction of Jerusalem and the temple has taken place.

o 854 years

· The Psalm are not organized by topic or by date. Psalm 90 is proof of that considering it’s the oldest Psalm. It is divided into 5 separate books.

· Book 4 is Psalms 90 to 106 . With the exception of psalm 90 that was written by Mosos. Psalm 103 and 105 was written by David. The rest in this book was written by unknown people.

· Psalm 91 was written by a unknown author.

91 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

· The secret place?

· Psalm 31:20 King James Version

20 Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.


· Psalm 31 Written by David to the Chief Musician.

· Psalm 31:6 speaks of idol worship.

· 31:20 The Secret place is the presence of the Lord

· The shadow of the Almighty?

· Psalm 17:8-9 King James Version

· 8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

· 9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my deadly enemies, who compass me about


· The shadow of your wings is a figure of speech symbolizing God’s protection. He guards us like a mother bird guards their young.

· Deuteronomy 32:9-12 King James Version

· 9 For the Lord's portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

· 10 He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.

· 11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:
